L, B, J, A and I went down to NYC for 24 hours of fun. It was a short trip to check out a car A was interested in, but it turned into a photo extravaganza for a few of us.
Angela, a beautiful model and I working together to produce some specific ideas for our portfolios.
I have not shot models since college and in these locations you have to struggle to use natural light to your advantage. If you have frequented the site often enough I am sure you already knew I am not much of a studio guy. Although that may balance out a bit very soon....
Shannon, L and I took a trip to a nice place for a shot that will be entered in the next photo contest. While at the location we took the time to get a few extra shots which are located in this small gallery.
Shannon a model and Shawna a up and coming model took a trip with me to a local building that will gone by the end of the year. The two of them did great modeling and had a blast during the shoot even after we were done and were walking around the building in total darkness.
With the rumors surrounding the place, if anyone was around, I am sure they would have been very frightened with my use of the strobe flash and the two girls in all white dresses.
Part of the allure of Utica to me, is it's past. Without that, this area would not be as unique as it is, even if most of the people around here are oblivious to it.
This is a Coal fed power station that supplied power for a local mill.

Another Gem, not too far away. This place is huge and with so much left over, it is a great place to explore. We have covered the complete place, but not all in photographs. It would be easy to take thousands of pictures in here, but we will leave some for any others...

T and I took a stroll and found yet another place in distress. It looked as if someone was living here, but was not any longer. The strong smell of oil and many bees nests kept this place as empty as it sits today.
Everyone knows that feeling each time you walk past an abandoned building. The intrigue, allure, and charm calling out to you. I feel the building's soul begging us, "please don't forget me"... D the Shadowman
Utica State Hospital's "Old Main" building is losing it's wings more and more as these days pass. What was once destined to be forever great, will now feel and look so very naked.
